Helping You Meet Challenges And Seize Opportunities
I had known Chris [McNally] for about a year and could tell by his charity work that he was a good person who cared about the community. It wasn’t until I needed him that I realized what an extraordinary job he does. Right from the start I knew I need someone on my side that I could trust. I called Chris and he responded immediately. His warmth and understanding helped me feel that someone understood what I was going through. He and his staff jumped right in, they took care of everything! They had answers to questions I didn’t even know to ask. You could look for better representation, but you are not going to find it. Chris is the BEST! If I could give him a one hundred star review I would. You can’t go wrong with his experience, knowledge and honesty. He is a great guy who did a great job. Thanks for everything Chris. — Anil
I just wrapped up the telephonic hearing with the Immigration Judge. Your Adjustment to LPR is approved!! – Attorney Chris McNally
Wow!!! What a year it has been!! Thank you both for everything that you have done and making this happen. We genuinely love you both and are so grateful more than you may ever know. We cannot thank you enough and cannot believe it’s over. – Elizabeth S
Ms. Victoria Clare and Mr. McNally offered us tremendous help since last year. Very soon after I met my wife, I decided to marry her; however, as an engineer, I knew nothing about immigration law. Meeting Ms. Clare and Mr. McNally was a pure chance—I searched attorney firms near me on google and the first one popped out was Sayer Regan and Thayer, LLP, so I called to make an appointment, and then I met them several days later. They decisively told us that they could help. The process of applying for a green card was exhausting, but due to Ms. Clare and Mr. McNally’s dedication on spending more than half of a year helping us fill all kinds of forms—I think the forms weigh more than three pounds—and collecting necessary information, my wife finally received her green card. Without Ms. Clare and Mr. McNally, I am not sure if my wife could have received her green card in such a fast speed.

“After my second B-Visa denial and the prospect of not being able to continue as skipper of a boat on its passage to American waters, I realised I needed professional help. Chris McNally was recommended to me as an immigration attorney and someone who could help with my crucial third and possibly final attempted to obtain my B-visa. Chris was methodical in his approach and took the time to understand both my current situation and the reasons for my previous visa denials. Not only was his preparation of the DS-160 meticulous, he prepared a comprehensive set of documents in support of my application. Prior to my third interview Chris coached me through possible interview questions and I am delighted to say my third visit to the US Consulate was successful. I highly recommended Chris McNally.”
“Dear Mrs. Clare and Atty. McNally,
Sheena and I wanted to say thank you for all the help, advice, and hard work you two have done for us with our case. It took longer than expected but we were able to submit everything and more importantly our case was approved. We look forward to working with you again in the future to carry out the next steps in our process. Thank you for your kindness, dedication, professionalism, and guidance. You both did a great job and gave us the much needed confidence to get everything done. Thank you so much. We wish you well and continue success in your futures!”
– Charles W., Middletown, RI
“Thanks again Chris,
The closing went smoothly because of your professionalism and demeanor.”
– Bill G.
I can’t thank you enough for shepherding me through this process, you did a fantastic job. Especially the addition of strongly encouraging me to get my neighbor’s signatures of support. Not something I would have done on my own, but proved very helpful as part of the case.”
– Pam A.
Thank you so much Victoria and Chris; you have both been so patient, helpful and kind throughout this process. I won’t hesitate to recommend you in the future, and if you need a reference, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Christopher McNally from Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP was very professional and available to find the right way to deal with my case. He was listening to my needs very carefully. I truly recommend Christopher to anyone who uses a lawyer for the first time.
I’m really pleased with my experience.”
– Novales F.
“We just to thank you again for the exceptional work you have done in obtaining François’s green card.
Obtaining a Permanent Resident Card is definitely lengthy and tedious. We are so grateful that Paralegal Victoria Clare and Attorney Christopher McNally of Sayer Regan and Thayer LLP handled our application with expertise, confidence and kindness. We received the Green Card in the delay announced without a hitch in a political climate adverse to immigration. We would never have been able to put together such an enormous dossier after moving back to the USA from Europe without errors or omissions and this would have prolonged the application process unnecessarily. We highly recommend your services to anyone needing Immigration advice and look forward to working with you again when filing for citizenship in a few years!
All our best and as time flies, we will see you again very soon.”
– François and Amalia
“Hello, Dear Victoria and Chris
First of all, we want to express our gratitude for your efforts and dedication for our case. It has been such a great pleasure working with you guys.
Ever since we first met, you both have given us the professional and informative advice and guidance on our legal matter. From collecting large amount of documents and informing us each single of results, you both have been so patient and kind. Also, you guys make this whole complicated process way much easier for us, we don’t know what we would have done without all your guidance. Again, thank you both so much for your professionalism and attention to detail, we really appreciated the time and energy you both put into our case.”
– Sha & Andrew T. Charlestown, RI
“I recently needed to engage a law firm and on the advice of a friend of one of my sons I called this firm. What a pleasant surprise awaited me when I met with Victoria. I left their office knowing that things were going to be ok and as that a recent widow I was no longer alone in the situation I had found myself in. Things were completed in a very timely and cost effective manner and I would not hesitate to recommend this firm to anyone in need of legal assistance.”
– Kathy W.
“Just wanted to say “THANK YOU” so much for all you did in selling our property in Newport. A special THANKS for the countless hours of dealing with the banks, the tons of paperwork involved, and keeping us informed at all times. Also thanks for dealing with our tenants with the utmost courtesy, and working around everyone’s schedule. You all made us feel comfortable in knowing you were doing your best with all the proceedings. I will highly recommend you to all our family and friends. Thank YOU”
– Edie & Allen Thibault
“On behalf of Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club, I would like to thank Chris and Victoria for their invaluable assistance in obtaining an O-1 visa for our newly hired Junior Program Head Coach. There was some time pressure on our end so we were thrilled with the level of professionalism, time sensitivity and skill with which SRT successfully handled the application process. The instructions and guidance received from SRT were spot on and, in our view, the level of service was extraordinary and the fees/expenses clearly communicated, reasonable (and fortunately , not exceeded). We would not hesitate to recommend SRT to handle other’s O-1 Visa applications nor would we hesitate to utilize SRT for similar immigration matters in the future.”

“Yesterday’s closing was one of the best I have been to in 15 years of being a realtor. The transaction (leading to the closing) was less than enjoyable, with all of the blunders made by the lender, but your office more than made up for it. Anette was on top of everything that came across her email and incredibly prompt with her replies. Mr.Thayer was efficient at the closing table yet took the time to educate my out-of-state buyers about the new TRID closing documents (or is it consummation?) as well as Newport’s restaurants and places to see.
So please thank everyone at your office once again. And I do hope that I have more closings at your office as this one was an absolute pleasure.”
– Elizabeth V.
“Hi Victoria, Thank you for your help. That was a very long and drawn out process. In the end, we (you) got it done! I know at times I may have seemed like a monster. Honestly, my patience was tried quite a bit and I had all but given up. I was content with just letting it foreclose. I’m glad we didn’t in case Congress passes the bill to extend the debt forgiveness program. If they don’t, we still should end up paying less than foreclosure when it comes to taxes.
We could not have done that without you. Thank you for your hard work and I’m sorry for the few times I exceeded the threshold. It wasn’t really meant for you, though it may have seemed that way. Anyway, thank you again for what you do and congratulations for another one under your belt.”
– Nathan W., R.I.
“A very big and heartfelt THANK YOU to Victoria and Attorney McNally for all their advice, counseling, patience and work put into our case. We have dealt with other immigration attorneys in the past, but none as honest and efficient as the people at SRT. I know they deal with hundreds of clients at any given time, but we felt like we were the only ones. They treated us like we mattered and their main objective was a successful outcome for us. Throughout this process we were treated with so much kindness and respect, never had a phone call that was not returned or a question left unanswered. They were never too busy to speak with us, give us advice or reassurance, or just to explain the process for a second or third time. We were made to feel like we mattered and weren’t just another name on a legal form. Victoria is a true gem, I don’t know how she didn’t run out of patience with us, instead she became our friend throughout this process, one we could always call on when in doubt.
Immigration is already a stressful situation in itself, having these professionals on your side makes all the difference. I would recommend this firm to anyone needing help or advice with their immigration process, I’ve passed their number along to friends who are just as happy to be working with Victoria. Thank you for making this possible!”
– Lou and Elisabeth T.
“My name is David F. and I write with a few words about Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP. I am currently a client of Debra L. Chernick, the legal counsel in your Wakefield office who has been handling both my divorce case and the title transfer of my home. Throughout the time of my working with Debra, not only has she provided excellent legal help; she’s been a superior source of general wisdom, too, an all-around advocate and advisor at what has otherwise been a difficult time for me, personally. Debra Chernick is a fine attorney, and I will be sure to recommend her to anyone and everyone I know.”
– David F.
“The immigration team at SRT worked in a measured and efficient manner throughout the detailed procedure to establish my new status without fuss or crisis. Additionally, the friendliness and competence of those involved ensured there was no stress in what can be a long and complicated process. Their expertise in immigration matters is thoroughly recommended.”
– Derek, RI.
“Victoria: A belated and much appreciated THANK YOU for all the work you performed on my/our behalf. This is the information I was looking for awaiting for the IRS to update PUB 17 with the new budget regulations included.”
– James B. – Portsmouth, RI
“Adam, Just a note to thank you for your assistance with the closing on my house. This was a new experience for me and you made it smooth and stress free for me.”
– Barbara M.
“Across SRT, we have found that the firm and its entire team are extremely focused, responsive, meticulous, thorough, and thoughtful. Having a legal partner and a team that delivers both clear, level-headed advice in addition to RESULTS is of great value. Having counsel which delivers at a consistently high level of personal and professional standard is of greater value still.”
– Craig & Molly H. – Newport, RI
“Victoria: I wanted to send you a message to say thank YOU so much. In such a normally distressing situation, you helped us more than you know, so thank you thank you! We are all settled in to our affordable and cozy home and are super happy! Thanks again!”
– Julie A., Tiverton, RI
“Adam and Melissa – I felt that I had to write this to let you know how much I enjoyed working with you both on the purchase transaction. As we all are aware, this was a challenging situation with many bumps along the road. If this had been left in the custody of two less capable attorneys I don’t know what the outcome might have been. I am most appreciative that you allowed me access to you both and that we could work together to help bring this to fruition. I appreciate the way you both thought things through when problems arose …many other attorneys would have started “firing their guns” to impress people. You both impressed by keeping cool under pressure and using your experience to solve the many problems we faced. I am very pleased by the quality of your work, and even more so that I have you both as friends and referral partners. Once again, thanks for an excellent job under very difficult circumstances. I think SRT Law is very fortunate to have you both there for the future.”
– Robert H. Ruth
“I have known Deb Chernick both as a friend and legal counsel, for over 20 years. She has helped me through both good times, and rough times. We met when I closed on my first house. We became friends and have enjoyed many good times together, and great conversations. She guided me through a rough divorce, and took away the stress that comes with all decisions, and emotions that come with a divorce. She’s helped me with my will, and the closing on my refinance of my home, after my divorce. She even went to town hall to file the paperwork for my name change! I couldn’t imagine a more professional legal counsel, or a better friend! Deb is a gem that I will always treasure!”
– Lee S.
“I wanted to let you know how wonderful my relationship with Deb Chernick has been. From the moment we met, I felt good in her presence and intuitively knew that I’d chosen the “right” attorney for my divorce.
Deb is very efficient and caring. Both of these qualities were so helpful to me during an emotional time in my life. What I value most about Deb is her good heart. There is not an ounce of negativity in her!
Needless to say, my divorce was a smooth transition and for that I’ll always be grateful to Deb.Professional and empathetic. It is not impossible.”
– Susan M.
“Debra Chernick has served as our attorney for more than 20 years and during that time she has provided us with invaluable advice, counsel and service. She is a consummate professional, always responsive and thorough. In addition to her professionalism, Debra has a warm and caring demeanor and we feel she is our friend as well as our attorney. She is always looking out for our best interests. We would highly recommend Debra to anyone looking for an attorney.”
– Jim and Kathryn H.
“Thank you Victoria for the great news !!!
I really appreciate your hard work and getting us focused to put this together with much success. I was certainly surprised of having not to go through another interview. Many thanks!”
– Jay M.
“Melissa Green held my case with great attention and promptness. Very Professional!”
– Justin Paiva
I can’t thank you enough for seeing this all the way through…despite the various setbacks outside of our control. You are a true professional! I enjoyed working with you as well… Take care!”
– Russ F.
Thank you for EVERYTHING! You were honest, compassionate, and thorough. You’re a great communicator, and always kept us up to date on the status…every step of the way.
Somehow you managed to keep a positive outlook throughout, and never got discouraged in facing adversity and overcoming obstacles that the lenders placed in front of you.
It was a pleasure working with you – you are a true professional! Thanks again.”
“SR&T were extremely professional with regards to all aspects of my case. They were prompt in responding to all of my inquiries and completely answered my questions. Not only would I seek their services again, I have also informed other law firms in my home state of Massachusetts, who are not licensed in Rhode Island, of their excellent work.”
– Richard L.
“Thanks so much for all your help! Very smooth process with all your guidance.”
– Jennifer M., Indiana
“I just received word from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services that my application for status as a permanent resident has been granted. Great news. My wife is a U.S. citizen and about a year ago we decided to retire to Cape Cod in Massachusetts. But first I had to get permission to become a permanent resident here. Our American daughter and her English husband had moved to the U.S. with their two little girls about a year before and they had done their application without an attorney. So, knowing from them how complicated and time consuming the process is we decided not to do it ourselves but to get help from an immigration attorney. About nine months ago we contacted Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP, in Newport, Rhode Island, who where recommended to us, and they agreed to help us with my application. For personal reasons we did not want to take up residence before 2010 and during the fall of 2009 we communicated frequently with Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP, by email and phone from England where we lived and provided them with information and a great number of documents. By early 2010 the firm had put together a very comprehensive package which was then submitted to the U.S. authorities and we moved to Cape Cod. Four months later we were called for an interview in Boston where we had a short and completely noncontroversial interview with an adjudicator from the immigration authorities.
I believe that Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP, did an exceptionally good job in putting together a comprehensive package of application forms with many supporting documents. It is probably because of their thoroughness and insight into the whole process that everything has gone so smoothly with the immigration authorities. One thing I particularly appreciate is that I could live here while my application was being processed.
It is not often that I believe I got my money’s worth to the extent I did with Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP. And on top of it, they are very pleasant, competent and efficient people to deal with.”
– Carl B. – Cape Cod, MA
