Roads in Rhode Island are more dangerous than others

No matter the supposed safety improvements made to vehicles and stricter traffic laws, accidents continue to happen. Car accidents happen every day in the U.S., including here in Rhode Island. In fact, research shows they are occurring at a relatively higher rate in our state.

The Property Casualty Insurance Association of America reports that 2016 was the deadliest year in terms of traffic accidents in Rhode Island since 2007. We are nearly midway through 2017. Will this year shape up to be even worse for motorists in the state?

We can't say for sure what the overall safety numbers will end up being for Rhode Island. If you are someone who has been injured in a car accident here recently, your experience can say something more concrete about traffic safety in the area. Did another driver's negligence cause your accident? The following are common (preventable) causes of crashes:

  • Speeding
  • Drunk and/or drugged driving
  • Inexperienced drivers
  • Distracted driving

If you are the victim of any of the above safety issues, take the situation seriously. Defend your rights and work with a personal injury attorney who can help you hold a careless driver accountable.

With the summer months right ahead, there is even more reason for Rhode Islanders to prioritize safe driving. More teens will be on the roads. Summer holidays can mean more alcohol intake and, therefore, more DUI risk. Family vacations can mean road congestion and a greater likelihood of a collision.

We urge all on Rhode Island's roads to be careful in order to foster a safer state. If you have already been injured because someone failed to be cautious, help foster that safety by calling that driver out for their role in making the state less safe than it could be.
