Small girl must undergo surgery after vicious dog attack

Despite what some believe, Rhode Island dog owners are responsible for the actions of their dogs. Because of this, owners must pay close attention to their dogs to ensure that their dogs do not cause harm to another individual; the owners must also do what they can to prevent any potentially dangerous situations. Some of the most disturbing dog attack situations are when children are involved, especially when those children suffer injuries that could affect them for the rest of their lives.

A small girl was recently attacked by two Belgian Malinois dogs just prior to her 7th birthday. Her mom was visiting friends of the family, and the little girl was with her mom. She was outside playing with the friends' dogs. It was at this time that one of the dogs bit her on the neck.

The six-year-old girl was transported by air to the hospital. She was then taken to another hospital to undergo surgery. The owner of the two dogs has been charged with two separate counts of vicious dogs, and the dogs were taken into custody. It is unclear what is going to happen to the dogs.

Luckily, for this girl and her family, as well as for all other Rhode Island victims of dog bites and attacks, there are legal options. These legal opportunities are available outside of the criminal justice system. Such legal options can help the dog attack victim or the victim's family in pursuing the recovery of financial compensation to help pay for any medical bills, cosmetic surgery, physical rehabilitation or other treatments that may be necessary to recovery from the dog bite injury.
