NFL star gets probation, chance at expungement after 2014 DUI

Many Rhode Island residents may not know who Le'Veon Bell is. The star running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers was arrested on DUI charges last year, and recently his case was settled, leading to a period of probation, the suspension of his license for two months and entrance into a rehabilitation program.

What Bell also received with this agreement is the chance to eventually have the DUI expunged from his record, which is a big deal for anyone accused of driving under the influence. Bell's celebrity didn't necessarily earn him this chance -- in fact, many people could have a DUI expungement opportunity in the wake of such a charge.

Bell still has many fees, fines and penalties he has to see through, just as anyone who is accused of driving under the influence would have to deal with. The expungement, though, would lead to this crime being obscured from Bell's record and it would give him a chance to move forward with his life without the charge coming back to haunt him unnecessarily.

DUI expungements are very helpful things that allow people to move on with their lives in the wake of a DUI. Without one, the charge can stain their reputation for many years.

These expungements, though, aren't necessarily guaranteed or even easy to obtain. Usually you have to meet certain requirements to get one, and even if you do, there will still be the penalties and costs associated with the charge. Discuss things with an experienced DUI defense attorney to maximize your chances with an expungement.
