Car accident in Rhode Island results in serious injury

In the aftermath of a motor vehicle collision in Rhode Island, a special investigation team may be called in to recreate the accident in order to help determine an exact cause. This is often the case if crash details are unclear. If a car accident is deemed to be the result of motorist negligence, a civil lawsuit may be filed above and beyond any criminal charges a negligent or reckless driver may face.

A young woman's vehicle was apparently broken down in the left lane of traffic recently when another car smashed into it. The woman was outside her vehicle, reportedly checking under the hood for the cause of her vehicle's malfunction. After the approaching car struck hers, the woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Two children and another woman who were traveling in the car that allegedly struck the stationary vehicle on the road were taken to the hospital and released the following day. It has yet to be determined whether excessive speed was a leading factor in the crash. Authorities say they do not suspect any alcohol related issues.

When a person suffers serious injury in a Rhode Island car accident, there may be long-term medical treatment and tremendous financial strain in that person's future. Often, an accident victim is unprepared to meet the expenses associated with recovery. In such cases, if negligence is proved, it is possible to file a personal injury claim to request that a monetary judgment be ordered by the court against the negligent driver.
