Michael J. Robinson, Associate

Sayer Regan & Thayer LLP
130 Bellevue Avenue, Unit 2
Newport, RI 02840
(401) 849-3040 Ext. # 231

Michael J. Robinson was born in Providence Rhode Island and spent summers living and working in South County.  After attending college and law school in Rhode Island, Attorney Robinson accepted a position with a large insurance company in Boston, Massachusetts and learned first hand how poorly insurance companies could treat ordinary people.  Attorney Robinson quickly grew disillusioned with big corporate America and returned to his Rhode Island roots.

Upon returning home, he honed his trial skills when he obtained employment with the Rhode Island Office of the Public Defender.   As an assistant public defender, Attorney Robinson was assigned primarily to Newport County, where he was involved in over 200 trials and hearings.  During his almost 4 years of public service Attorney Robinson represented hundreds of individuals charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

While Attorney Robinson does not condone driving drunk, he firmly maintains that everyone is entitled to the best legal defense available.  Throughout his career he has earned a reputation as a knowledgable and respected DUI defense attorney.

In 2003, Attorney Robinson joined Sayer Regan & Thayer, LLP as a litigation associate.  Attorney Robinson focuses his practice in four areas where he can best utilize his skills:

1.  Personal Injury:  Attorney Robinson represents seriously injured individuals against large insurance companies.  The insurance companies goal is to make you go away as quickly, and as cheaply as possible.  They do not want to listen to you.  In those cases, it makes sense to hire someone who will make them.

2.  Criminal Law/DUIs/Refusals:  He handles all aspects of criminal law and focuses his skills on helping people who have been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.  The consequences of being convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol can be enormous.  If you hagve been so charged, you should seek the advice of a qualified professional.

3.  Immigration Law:  Attorney Robinson represents individuals and companies (particluarly human resource departments) navigate the very complex field of immigration law.  Immigration law is a growing, and increasingly complex practice area.  For serious immigration matters, it is always best to consult with a professional BEFORE taking any other action.

4.  Family Law & Domestic Relations:  Attorney Robinson handles divorce and child placement and custody dispute matters in all Rhode Island Family Courts.

Aside from his passion for the law and working with people who need his help, Attorney Robinson is a devoted husband and a doting father of two wild and crazy boys and a beautiful baby girl.
